Mayté Rivera Rodríguez obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  In 2006, Miss Rivera Rodríguez obtained her Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. Upon graduation, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable German Brau Ramírez of the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals, as a law clerk to the Honorable Justice Jaime B. Fuster Berlingeri of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court and as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Justice Federico Hernández Denton.  Afterwards, she obtained a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) from Columbia Law School in New York, New York. Since 2009, she has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where she teaches courses on Legal Ethics and Gender Discrimination. She also served as Assistant Legal Counsel at the Office of the Governor of Puerto Rico. In January 2016, she was appointed member of the Advisory Board of the Judicial Branch Gender Equality Program.

Miss Rivera Rodríguez is admitted to practice before the Courts of Puerto Rico, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Currently, Miss Rivera Rodriguez works as an Of Counsel to Usera Law Offices, P.S.C.
